New Year’s Eve 2020

The year is coming to a close, and I’m taking some time to reflect back as well as look ahead.

This year was the year of the Covid 19 Pandemic as well as the U.S. Presidential Election Drama.

The pandemic is still ongoing worldwide, and I’ve heard a new strain has mutated from the original in Europe. That’s a scary thought but then, the flu mutates every year too. Unlike the flu, even a bad case, Covid 19 can cause lasting damage to both the mental and physical health of a sufferer – it just depends on how bad and how long they suffer from it.

The Drama around the U.S. Presidential Elections has not died down completely yet, the news just has moved on to more entertaining things to report. The country has turned its attention elsewhere and it ready to move on with dealing with the new president.

Personally, 2020 has not been that great a year for me financially. In my personal relationships, my special gentleman friend and I are getting closer. We’re taking it slow, there’s no need to rush, but things are coming along well. With my writing, I’ve finally completed the newest draft of Golden Knave and have it ready for Beta readers starting this weekend.

Looking ahead, Ihave a great many things I want to do.

I have The Between coming out in February.

I have plans to be more consistent with my blog posts, and I actually have themes for most of the days of the week. These are as follows:

Monday – updates on My Writing

Tuesday – YouTuber Reviews – sharing the YouTubers I like to watch

Wednesday – Writing Prompts – prompts will come alternately from a book I have and from WriterIgniter.com

Thursday – Reviews – books, movies and television shows mainly

Friday – Fake Money Games these have become prevalent, and I’m going to be telling you which ones I’ve tried and found to be either fake or real

Saturday – Blog Sharing

Sunday – my day off.

I also plan on launching two books in the coming year:

The Between – February

Golden Knave – May

You know what they say about best laid plans so, we’ll see what happens.

Happy New Year and see you on the flipside!!

30 Days of Golden Knave – Day 28 – Finished!!

Yes, FINISHED!! The entire piece is done!! I did another big push and got the final scenes done!! I’ll compile the entire thing into a word doc.file so it can be shared and then, after the new year, I’ll send it out to Beta readers.

I’m happy I’ve gotten this draft done finally! It seemed to take me forever, and it did take me almost two years. I didn’t realize I’d taken so long until it was done, but I did. I would like to have it published by my birthday in 2021, but that will depend on the Beta readers so, we’ll see.

Ebon Angel will not begin right away. I am putting the finishing touches on my supernatural thriller, The Between, and it should be published in February 2021. Once it’done, I’ll be back to work on Golden Knave, or hope to be. I don’t foresee starting on Ebon Angel until June 2021, at the earliest.

I’m also planning to rerelease Blood of a Friend, but it’s going to need some reworking first so it won’t be coming back out until late 2021 to early 2022.

Time to start compiling!

30 Days of Golden Knave – Day 27

Since I haven’t worked on Golden Knave for the past 4 or 5 days, I decided to work as long as I could today. Happily, the boys were out so I could work in peace with plenty of quiet. Even Mimi my queen of fluff didn’t bother me today.

I wrote a grand total of 3,000 words which is amazing for me. I was very grateful and gratified to see the total after all the work I did. This was another day where things just seemed to flow, and it just felt amazing. It’s times like these where I feel like I’ve just watched a great episode of my favoritet television show or just woke up from a fantastic dream. I can’t help going over in my mind what I’d just written, enjoying it rather than trying to edit it. The editing will come later.

So, with this bit done today, Golden Knave is nearly done. I have a couple more scenes to write, and I have a good feeling I can have them done tomorrow.

30 Days of Golden Knave – Days 22 – 26

I didn’t write this entire time. I was busy with family and the holidays. We’re a bit spread out so I spent a lot of time traveling and even spent the night in a couple of places. I got to spend some time with my special friend as well since he lives in the same general area as some of my family members. I’ll be back to work on Golden Knave tomorrow.

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays, I certainly did mine!

30 Days of Golden Knave – Day 21

Vice’s side of the story is done!! Yay me!! With everything I’ve written during this event, including today, added to what I’d written before, the grand total for Vice’s side of the story is now:

31,600!!

I feel so good today especially after yesterday’s abysmal failure!! The story was flowing and suddenly, I realized I’d come the natural place where the two stories are going to merge. It felt right to stop then so, I did. Tomorrow, I begin writing the ending of the story and at this point, it looks like Golden Knave is going to be close to 100,000 words!! That’s about double the size of Crimson Knight!!

I already have an idea for the cover art too. My friend, Donna, gave me an idea for it when I was showing her some ideas I was thinking about using. I’ll work on it while I’m taking a break from the story after it’s written. I’ll be sending it off to Beta readers for their input as well so I’ll have some time.

30 Days of Golden Knave – Day 20

Today was an awful day of writing for me. I wrote a great deal, but I didn’t like any of it when I was done. It just didn’t feel right to me so I gave up trying to make the scene work right. There are days when I write a lot and don’t keep any of it because when I read over it I don’t like any of it. It’s like taking a wrong turn and not realizing it until you’re miles out of your way. You then have to turn around, travel all the way back to where you made your mistake and try again. I am too tired to go all the way back and try it again so I’ll leave off until tomorrow.

30 Days of Golden Knave – Day 19

Today I started listening to Power Metal Collection 5. The music is stimulating without being a distraction while I write. I wrote Crimson Knight to a personal playlist made from songs from Blind Guardian, Ayreon, Apocalyptica, Disturbed and Iced Earth. I think the last band was called Iced Earth. It’s been a while since I listened to that playlist. It worked wonders with Crimson Knight, but Golden Knave needed something else.

I’ve already begun thinking about the next book in this series. It’s going to be called Ebon Angel and no, it’s not about Shadow. I won’t say any more about it because I don’t want to spoil things.

So, how many words did I manage to write today? I did a fantastic 1500!! I think I might just hit my 30,000 word goal after all! That would be marvelous, but I am not worried if I don’t make it since this is just the second draft. I have plenty of time to do some beefing during the final draft. Still, I’ll go with the flow of the story and see where it takes me.

30 Days of Golden Knave – Day 18

As promised, here is the word count for what I’ve written so far, including the 1000 words I was able to get in today :

22,200

This doesn’t include what I had already written before I’d begun my 30 Days of Golden Knave posts. I have a good feeling I’ll get more done on Vice’s side of the story before I enter into the ending stage. The ending is still not clear to me. I hope to have a better idea of how I want it to end when the time comes. I’m not a planner when it comes to my writing. I just let the story go where it wants, and I just follow along.

I hope everyone is still following along with me on this journey. Writing can be fun, but it can also be a chore. When it becomes a chore, I change projects, but I always try to write something every day. You know what I’ve learned about practice right? It makes permanent!

30 Days of Golden Knave – Day 17

I only did one writing sprint today, but it was about three hours long. I was on a roll, and I didn’t want to stop. I get that way at times. I get so into what I’m doing I don’t want to stop until I’m done or something else happens that makes me have to stop. The story was flowing, and I was having fun.

I was also listening to Power Metal Collection 4 on Youtube, and it has been really setting my mood for the story at this point. I got in another 1200 words!

I hope I have another good day tomorrow, but we’ll see how that goes. The month, and year, is drawing to a close, and I have high hopes for the future.

30 Days of Golden Knave – Day 16

I had a bit of trouble writing the scene today. I wasn’t sure how long I should play out Vice’s recovery time. His story is playing out at the same time as Kitya’s, and I don’t want him arriving too early or too late to the ball. I’m trying to be realistic about travel times and recovery times as well – that’s just me. I use magic, but it’s not that fun if everything is solved by magic. Sandel has gone AWOL again anyway so there’s that too. Temple cleric with healing hands? I think Vice’s roaming hands might get in the way.:-)

I did finally figure things out, and I was able to get about 1200 words in the morning sprint. I didn’t get my second sprint in because I had to go run errands with the boys. Still, I got words added to the overall story so I’m happy.
