I actually thought I’d posted this yesterday so this is actually a day late. I shared the photo in the Facebook group yesterday but forgot to share it with all of you. Here is my completed design for this month on the Changing Season’s Mystery Stitch-A-Long designed by and hosted by Fox and Rabbit.

I’ve seen a lot of variegated threads being used for this, but I’m liking my solid colors. Trying to keep the designs simple. The colors I used were DMC 744, 972, and 3841. The green was something I had in my stash without a tag on it. Next month’s green ight be something lighter to go with summer, but we’ll see.
The lettering was a bit fiddly, and I don’t think my “S” was a defined as it should have been. I’d wanted to do it in satin stitch, but it was coming out like a blob so I frogged it all and just went with the chart. I’m wondering if it needs a bit of seed bead bling added…..
I’m actually wondering if I could add some bling to the vase with a charm or a rhinestone or something. It just seems a bit flat and boring to me. Maybe I’m wrong. What do you folks think? Add some bling or leave it be?? If bling, what should it be?? I’m open to suggestions and ideas. I’ll even do backstitching if it will bring more to this part.
I’m eager to see what May brings, maybe one of the smaller squares will get filled in next since May isn’t a summer month. I hope so as those empty blocks are begging me to fill them. 🙂
See you on the flipside and don’t forget your towel and sonic screwdriver!!!
I love it, think it looks beautiful. Yes it may need some bling but I think you should wait till its completed to add it. Might feel it doesn’t need it then. Or maybe it needs more than you think now. So fun watching this come together. I do love the variegated threads, the green border is so pretty.

I’m enjoying this MSAL more than I thought I would and yes, I’m definitely waiting until the end to add anything besides thread to it. The outer frame is one strand of dark gray and one strand of metallic silver and the stems on the corner flowers are dark green and metallic green so there’s some bling there. Beads and whatnot will have to come after the rest of it is done. I don’t think I’ll do any more metallic threads than I’m already doing because they’re such a pain to work with.
The green border is coming out so beautifully I’m so thrilled!! I’m happy I finally got the hang of it. 🙂
I hope you’re doing well. I’m never sure what I’m doing from day to day I tend to think I’ve done something when I haven’t. I make lists, but that only helps a little bit lol

Love your April! Bling would definitely add so much to the vase, and I agree it can wait till the end. (I picture a large faceted bead at the center of the vase, but really, smaller beads and whatnot would work just as well.)
My version is coming along well, though my attempts at using something other than cross stitch this month didn’t succeed much. I’ll continue with cross stitches for the motifs, and experiment with other stitches on the lettering. Needless to say, I’m pretty impressed with your satin stitches!

I, personally, think my leaves came out a little wonky, but I do like the overall look.
I was thinking large bead for the center of the vase as well, maybe a rhinestone or something. I’ll look around more when it gets nearer to time to add the bling.
I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ve done on April!! You always use such lovely colors! Are you using DMC too or something else? I know the pattern is calling for silkies(Sulky’s??) but I don’t have the money for expensive threads, especially for a project this large.

A rhinestone would be awesome! Hope you get more ideas during the year from the Facebook group too.
DMC is crazy expensive here since it is imported from the US, and I prefer local brands.

Your sampler is looking lovely. I love all of the colors. I am enjoying seeing all of the different color combinations that are out there. I am afraid that I would just stress about doing a sampler in many colors, so I am using a variegated floss. I would wait until the end to see if the finished piece needs any bling and where to add it. I have been thinking about adding beads, too, but I will wait until the end to see what feels right. I too am looking forward to seeing what May will bring.

I’ve seen a lot of variegated floss users in the Facebook group for the SAL, and they all look marvelous. I’m sure yours will too. Just use what feels right to you. 🙂
I’m going to wait until the end to add beads and bling so I can do it all at once. Beading takes time even if you’re only doing a little bit. 🙂
I can’t wait to see what your SAL looks like!!
