Personal Update: April 29, 2022

This month has really flown by! Let’s get to it then.

Work

Not much has changed on this front. I have asked to be considered for a full time position, and I’m looking at surrounding cities that have a Lowe’s in them. I am not adverse to moving or commuting. I’d like to get out of the department I’m in so I can learn something new – I’ve been in my present position for nearly a year,

Crocheting

Changes have been made in this area as far as my projects go.

Socks

I am no longer making socks because I can’t make a heel to save my life. I frogged that section so many times I gave up aggravated almost to the point of tears. I may try again at a later date, especially if I have someone who can show me, in person, how to do the heel.

Duster

This is a paid pattern so I won’t be sharing this project’s progress unless you want me to. It’s a lovely lacy duster by Briana K Designs I believe she’s calling Long Summer Crochet Duster. I was part of a blog hop last year and got the design for free then. I don’t have the link to the paid pattern and can’t in all good conscience share the free pattern here.

Fantail Afghan

I had stopped work on this to make the socks and now, I’m going back to it. I hope to get a great deal further on it by next week.

Tablecloth

I’m going to be purchasing the full pattern of Rings of Change by Frank O’Randle this paycheck so I can move forward with the tablecloth. I won’t have anything to show for a couple of weeks so, you’ll have to bear with me on this.

Cross Stitching

Fox and Rabbit’s Mystery Stitch-A-Long Changing Seasons

May’s design will be dropping any day now. They’re in Australia so they’re a day ahead of me so I think I’ll have the design tomorrow evening, the 30th. ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to see what gem Brendon has designed for my birth month!

Land Baby

I completed the second row and began work on the second column. I don’t want to show you it tomorrow though. I want to do some more work on the second column before I share my progress.

Cat Face – my Small Project

This poor project has been languishing by the wayside waiting for me to work on it. I did a great deal of work on it today – it’s a simple little chart. I’ll show you my progress on it tomorrow, and I might just finish it this week.

Other Projects

Dollhouse

I’ve got two floors up so far. Joe is cutting the interior walls for me, and he says using the saw and blades I got is very hard. He even demonstrated for me so I could see what he meant. These tools were recommended to me. If anyone else has better advice for cutting 1/4 inch Luann, please leave a comment below.

Since it is hard for him, and me, production of interior walls has slowed considerably. I’m hoping he’ll cut me enough to put another floor on this weekend, but we’ll see. There will be a ground floor with the basement, three regular floors and an attic inside a mansard roof. Cutting out doors and windows is going to be interesting so again, if you have any suggestions for how this can be done, please leave a comment below.

Dungeon Tiles

This is another project that has been languishing waiting for me to make time for it. I’m just making up squares of cardboard to look like stone for Joe’s Dungeons and Dragons games. He doesn’t want fancy or professional, he just wants usable and halfway realistic. I think I’m giving him both – he certainly hasn’t complained.

I’ve just got the painting left to do, but there are about two dozen tiles so, it’s going to take a while to get them painted on all sides. I’m doing a base layer of black followed by medium gray, light gray and then white.

Other Stuff

My weight loss goal is coming along slowly. I am still losing weight, and that’s the main thing. My doctor tells me losing slowly is healthier than losing fast so, I’m not worried. I’m feeling better, and in another month, I’ll be needing new pants again because the ones I have now are getting too big. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mimi Queen of Fluff is doing well. She’s putting on a bit of weight due to bad weather keeping her inside too much. She’s also going to be 6 this year, and she’s getting sedentary. I’m told Maine Coons can get this way. I’m working on ways to get her active without tiring her out too fast. She’s not a jumper except to get on the bed with me. She doesn’t play with toys or catnip though she will play with string…..

There’s not much else to tell so, I’ll end this for this month.

See you on the flipside and don’t forget your towel and sonic screwdriver!!

  1. You’re definitely keeping busy! The May Fox-n-Rabbit section seems to be out, and it’s neat and tidy compared to April. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you find a way to learn sock heels, and eventually end up knitting a sock pair or two. That said, socks or no socks, you have quite a lot of creative projects to keep you entertained. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Unfortunately I don’t know how to knit – well, I don’t know how to knit well. I know the basics. I prefer crocheting. ๐Ÿ™‚ That said, I will tackle the heel issue again, just not right away. It had my blood pressure up way too high lol.
I’m going to go look at the May design now! I can’t wait to get to work on it too!!

    1. Ah I keep saying ‘knit’ even when I remember that you used crochet for your sock project. (I probably use ‘knit’ as a catch-all term to mean ‘make with yarn’–I’ll need to be mindful.) A break will definitely do some good.
I’ve been inspired by you and have used satin stitch for some parts of April, but I don’t think May provides any such opportunities.

  3. No, May is straight up cross stitch, and I still managed to mess it up a bit when Mimi distracted me. I’ve already finished the block, and I’m going to do some more work on the frame around the inside part. It was a lovely break from the bigger more involved sections. As you said, “neat and tidy”.
