Rare Edition of Crimson Knight – Get Yours NOW!

That’s right, the current edition of Crimson Knight, my first published fantasy novel is rare, and you really need to get yours right now.

Why?

Currently, Crimson Knight has formatting issues. The edition being released on Valentine’s Day will be the corrected version. This means the current edition will never be available from me or my publisher. It won’t exist except for those fortunate enough to have bought one. This will make it ideal for the book collector as well as the book fan.

You can get your copy on Amazon: Crimson Knight

Be sure to post a review as well as I could really use the feedback!

Golden Knave Update – An Annoying Setback and Moving Forward

Almost a month ago I crowed about completing the second draft of my sequel novel to Crimson Knight, Golden Knave and how it now needed to be sent off to my Beta readers.

*Note to self* NEVER clean while both having an argument and cleaning!!

I have was having an argument via phone before work one day was quickly cleaning before I left because I had other things planned for after work. I do spur of the moment cleaning as well. At this time, I was arguing with a service trying to bill me twice for something, and I was not happy.

Long story short, my son’s cat had knocked my papers onto the floor and among them were the loose leaf sheets of my finished work. I hadn’t had a chance to add them to the main story in a notebook yet. I write all my work long hand and then, after placing it in one notebook, I put everything on computer.

Cue the tragic music: I threw away the 14 handwritten pages that completed Kitya’s part of Golden Knave. I had been struggling with the ending for some time, and this was a tear jerker – when I realized what I had done almost two weeks later. In that time, I’d looked everywhere several times before I remembered throwing the papers away. I was devastated to say the least.

Fast forward to last weekend. I sat down and wrote the ending again. This time, for some reason, things came a bit easier. It flowed. I wrote it all in one sitting – another 14 glorious pages! Then, I began adding them to the main story, and those pages, those scenes, GREW!! I was only able to get 1 1/2 pages transferred before I got pulled away, but those 1 1/2 pages had become 5 in the notebook!! The scenes had expanded, the dialogue had continued!! I was thrilled!!

I haven’t been able to work on the transferral since because of work and my life in general, but I’ll have the time tomorrow. Then, the tedious chore of putting it all on computer begins. I’ll have to do it in spurts, but it will get done!!

So there you have it, my update 🙂 I hope you all have a wonderful day/evening/night depending on where you are in the world.

Lovely Weekend/Golden Knave Update

I have a gentleman friend I see once a month, and this past weekend was this month’s time. We have hectic work schedules plus we live several hours apart so we can’t see each other more often. It means our relationship is developing a lot slower than normal, but we’ve known each other since we were in high school (we just reconnected after 24 years) so we’re not far behind. It makes our time together even more important to us, and that’s a precious thing.

We were talking and somehow, the conversation got around to him confessing he hadn’t read Crimson Knight yet. Considering his work schedule, I’m not hurt by this in any way, and I assured him of this. We talked about the book and how I was learning how to market said book so I could increase sales. Just got a great audio book by Penn on the subject and have already begun working on some of the ideas she gave me. He’s very supportive of my writing ambition even without having read my work, and I appreciate that from him.

Talking about Crimson Knight had me thinking about Golden Knave, the sequel, while I was watching the Texans barely win against the Bills (in ovetime no less!), and I realized something. I realized that I haven’t been able to get past one scene in the book. I hated everything I tried to write after that. I realized that was my muse telling me that part of the book was done; it was time to move on. So, after I add a short bit of dialogue, I’m adding what I have written down to what I have on the computer. Then, that will be sent off to Beta readers while I move on to the next part of the book. I just needed to step back from the project to see why I was hitting the proverbial brick wall.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend like I did, and I’ll see you on the flipside. Don’t forget to bring your towel and sonic screwdriver!!

Great News for Crimson Knight!

Crimson Knight was successfully rereleased by Kindle Direct Publishing earlier in the week.  Several days before that, I was successful at getting the ebook version finally edited and formatted properly so it could be published as well.  It’s now live on Amazon.com along with the print version.

Over the last few days, I’ve begun work on producing the audio book version of Crimson Knight as many of my friends listen to audio books and requested one of my book.  I don’t speak as well as I once did now that I have dentures and a fake palette covering most of the roof of my mouth so doing the narrative myself is out of the question.  I posted the job on Audible, Amazon’s audio book production arm, and I actually sent a proposal to a narrator after listening to some of the narrators’ audition recordings the same day I posted the job.

She turned me down.  I began to worry about finding someone much less figuring out how to pay them.  I wondered if I should even pursue this avenue.  I let it go a day and then, early yesterday morning, I got a message from Audible saying someone had sent me an audition recording.  I listened to it, and I was amazed by the man’s talent.  I read his profile, and it said he’d just completed his 50th book on Audible!  I began to think he was out of my league!

Since he’d sent a message with his audition recording wanting to know more about the book, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to talk to him a bit.  We exchanged messages, and he was very understanding of this being my first attempt at creating an audio book and working with Audible.  Long story short, I listened to two more audition recordings from two other narrators, and I decided to go with the first guy.

We have a contract now and are moving forward with the project.  I will get the first 15 minutes of the story in about a week and after going over that with the narrator, I won’t get anything again until the initial recording is complete.  My projected release date is 10 May, 2019 – the day before my birthday.

I am learning a lot from this process, and I’m feeling a bit more confident with it.  I’m going to be editing cover art for the audio book next.

Below is the link to the print and ebook versions of Crimson Knight.  If you do decide to grab a copy, please leave a review!  I don’t care if it’s bad or good, I welcome all feedback!

Harrison – Ever After

This book is written by Kim Harrison and is part of the Books of the Hollows series.  This book is published by Harper Voyager an Imprint of HarperCollins Publishers copyrighted 2013.  The copy I have is a paperback of 496 pages plus a bonus short story at the end.

I liked the first book in this set, Dead Witch Walking.  I’ve not read the others – this one was given to me as a gift.  I’m not big on romance(yeah a chick who doesn’t like romance go figure), but this one did have some pretty good scenes despite it.

This book is a fantasy novel with witches, demons, an elf or two and plenty of gargoyles to round out the fun.  These are walking, talking, even flying gargoyles, and I liked how they were treated by this author. 🙂 It brought some freshness to the genre, imho.

Our heroine is Rachel who is a half demon witch, among other things.  Her love interest and sometime pain in the butt, is an elven tycoon named Trent Kalamack who was much more than a rich elf.  Then, there’s the people who help them and/or are a part of their lives.

It would take to long to name the rest of the cast of this book, but I do suggest reading it.  There’s enough action and butt kicking scenes to even out the romantic stuff so guys(I mean those of the male persuasion)don’t feel too dorky reading this book once your girl gets done with it. 🙂

Short and sweet, like me except the sweet part. 🙂

Catch you on the flipside and don’t forget your towel and sonic screwdriver – Winter isn’t over yet!
